We're moving. Since Dad retired early this year, we have to leave this government accomodation and shift to our own place. I was dreading this moment and now its here. I remember the first time we came here. I was only 3 years old. It didnt make much of a difference to me then. I was in a bigger, better place. A new playpen for me! I went about exploring my nest. I chose the master bedroom for me. Obviously mom n dad cud share! It was a nice place, with a huge balcony that overlooked a huge garden below. I knew I would go down to play soon, even if it was the neighbours' place. I knew how to use my cute looks and innocent charms to my advantage!
When I turned 5, I insisted on having a dog. So on our way back from Bangalore I found the perfect pup. Actually I found two. But Dad would only let me keep one. My cuteness mustve slipped a notch! But I was happy. I had someone who I could take care of! When I showed her to my brothers, they looked as excited as I felt. Our family was complete. Niki, my doggie, was the perfect companion. She was fun, fearless and faithful. She grew so fast that I hardly noticed when she got old. She died in this very house in my arms.
When I entered the teens, Dad added a new room. Finally, my very own space! With a door I could lock!! My bed, my almirah, my study-table....it was great! I put up posters of my favourite stars, set my stereo, hung a 'backstreet-boys' calendar and showcased my collection of soft toys! I've outgrown the last few, but I still love my room. Its small but its mine. I'm gonna miss it so much.
This house has so many memories attached. Both my brothers got married here. My niece was born here. All our celebrations, all our sorrows happened right here. The bare walls reflect happy faces, tears, anger, joy... I only hope that we can turn the new house into a home, just like this one.

ANd i guess u can still work ur innocent charms to good effect :)
i cant even imagine what it feels like living in one place most of ur life. must be tough moving. nonetheless, may u move on to bigger and better things in life.
hey congrats for the new house. I knw its hard to leave those memories ..... but memories stay in heart ... they dont need walls.
Decorate the very unfamiliar new house with the very familiar OLD house memories & u will fell AT HOME !!
congrats for the new house....u are shifting your house not your memories...so cheerzzz....
I understand how you feel. And a for a while you will feel that it will never be the same but after that you will feel better. So take care.
We really dont notice how a new house becomes home; you know the place where we take refuge in when everything else is estranged, the onl y4 walls that aren't claustrophobic when they lock you in and finally the place where your memories permenate the air, wood and concrete. Hope you are ok mirage....
changes happen, and you will realise that in the long run, they are always for the good. You'll have to trust this one. Else there is no end for your sorrow. :P
Yup...
I stay in a rented apt in Pune and whenever I leave them after an yr or so...its a different feeling. You have certain memories attached to the place u usually stay for sometime.
And for you...you have plenty of em...and its gonna take sometime for ya to settle down.
You take care Mirage and hope you have awesome in ur new place.
Greetz!!!
.. and so the 'back to Home' will have a different url now... hope the new place is as comfortable as the old one..
Let this be a new experience in life. Though you have memories attached to this place, you will cherish them still in a new place. But, this experience of living in a new home is a different ball game altogether. No need to tell you to try it out, coz you are trying it out already.
BOL.
wishing u a lot of happiness in ur new home .
